Checkedit Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 19, 2026

Checkedit helps users share social-media posts, links, text, images, or videos for context checking. This policy explains what data Checkedit collects, how it is used, and what choices users have.

Information we collect

How we use information

Social, Reddit, public records, archives, and scientific research sources

Users can choose whether Checkedit may use social media, Reddit, similar discussion platforms, public records, archives, and scientific research/reference leads as additional source context. Discussion sources may include controversial or unverified opinions. Research and archive leads are used carefully and are cited as evidence only when a public source verifies the specific passage or record. This setting can be changed later from the Profile tab.

Sharing of information

Checkedit does not sell personal information. We use service providers to operate the app, including hosting, database, authentication, storage, AI analysis, notifications, and mobile-store billing. Shared content may be processed by those providers only as needed to provide the app’s features.

Users can send a support report from the Profile menu. The report is associated with the account ID and includes the message, app version and platform. If the user opts in, it also includes recent app event stages and notification-save status. The report does not automatically include submitted post links, email addresses, passwords or sign-in tokens. Reports are stored securely in the support log and kept only as long as needed to investigate and resolve the request, maintain security, or meet legal obligations.

Optional rewarded ads

The Rewards page offers optional Google AdMob ads. The preview video is stored in the app and does not earn rewards. Ads load only after you choose Watch and any required advertising consent is handled separately. The ad SDK may process IP address, device and advertising identifiers, approximate location, diagnostics, and ad interactions to deliver ads, measure performance, and prevent fraud. We currently request non-personalised ads; these may still use device storage and require consent. Checkedit does not send submitted posts or fact-check results to AdMob for targeting.

We send a pseudonymous account ID and a random reward-session ID for Google's server-side verification. We store reward-session timestamps, test status, verification transaction ID, and credited status to add two checks once and prevent duplicate rewards. No checks are awarded for preview videos or test ads. Where required, use Ad privacy on the Rewards page to review or change advertising choices. Declining ads does not prevent use of other app features. See Google's Privacy Policy.

Public information

Display names, profile pictures, ranks, points, and first-check counts may be visible to other users. When a user is the first scout for a result, their public profile name may appear on that result.

Data retention

A limited pseudonymous record that a device claimed its free trial may remain after uninstalling the app or deleting an account, to prevent repeated trial claims. These records are restricted to the backend and retained only while needed for abuse prevention. Contact us for review if a shared or second-hand device has been incorrectly restricted.

We keep account data while an account is active. Shared content, analysis results, and operational logs are kept as needed to provide the app, maintain result history, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations. We may delete or anonymize data when it is no longer needed.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including authentication, server-side access checks, storage controls, and encrypted transport where supported. No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure.

Account deletion and data requests

Users may request account deletion and deletion of associated personal data by contacting support@checkedit.site. We may retain limited information where required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or legitimate operational needs.

Children

Checkedit is not intended for children. The app is designed for a general adult audience and should not be used by children under the age required by applicable law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. The updated version will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date.
